Approximately 50% of postmenopausal women experience what's clinically called Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM) — a constellation of symptoms including dryness, thinning of vaginal tissue, decreased lubrication, and pain during sex. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring molecule found throughout the human body. In dermatology, it has long been recognized as the gold standard for deep, lasting hydration — it draws moisture from the environment and locks it into tissue.

What's less widely known is that hyaluronic acid works with equal effectiveness on vaginal tissue. Multiple peer-reviewed studies have compared topical and intravaginal hyaluronic acid to low-dose estrogen for the treatment of vaginal dryness — and found comparable results for symptom relief, without the hormonal effects.

For women who cannot or choose not to use hormone therapy, this is significant. It means there is a clinically supported, hormone-free option that most women have never heard of — because no one told them to look for it.
