At Playground, we use a lot of phrases to describe ourselves and our brand - up for fun, down for anything, more bliss in the bedroom, nice girls finish first…It’s our way to lighten up a subject most find uncomfortable. We aim to ‘break the ice’ using innuendos and witty phrases to break the norm…tabu…stigma...around conversations involving sex, pleasure and sexual wellness. We’re a fun brand, but with a very serious mission. Shame around sex and sexuality has stigmatized our sexual well-being for way too long – for most of us, our entire lives. 53% of high school students today graduate with no sex education. Women with Cancer, menopause, and postpartum effects suffer from common sexual health issues - and our inability to talk about it prevents them from learning about and alleviating their health problems. 62% of adult couples admit they struggle to talk about sex with their partner.
“We think sex is intercourse. In actuality, it’s about connection. Connection is at the cornerstone of a happy and healthy intimate relationship.”
This abstinence of “sex-ed” perpetuates misinformation around sex and its important link to our overall health, happiness and wellness. Censorship is a massive problem, particularly around women’s sexual wellness - we see super bowl commercials on men’s sexual dysfunction like erectile dysfunction, prostate cancer, even prostate size, but words like “vaginal moisturizer” or “female pleasure” are censored and blocked across nearly all ad networks.
Pillow Talk is Playground’s newest edition to our everyday healthy and clean water-based lubricant line. It not only symbolizes our devoted commitment to destigmatizing these conversations, but also supports an important social cause: 1% of revenue for every Pillow Talk sold in perpetuity goes to support non-profit organizations supporting better sexual health and wellness, starting with The Center for Intimacy Justice.
Pillow Talk is not just a name of a product, it’s one of the most important words in our brand lexicon. Our very first recorded conversation between my Co-founder, Christina Aguilera, and our Chief Sexologist, Dr. Emily Morse, was even called a “Pillow Talk”! Since then, I've Had so many of these pillow talks with amazing brands, founders, women and men including this one with….So power up your own pillow talk, because I can affirm that no other conversation is more fun, inspiring, educational or empowering.
xoxo,
Catherine
